You Can't Handle The Truth

By way of Atrios, this story at CBS News includes the scariest quote I have read in a long time:
Beginning next year, the F.E.C. will institute new rules on the restricted uses of the Internet as it relates to political speech.
Will somebody please explain to me how it is that these fucktards can even consider themselves Americans!?

Comments:
There remains no code of ethics, or even an employer, to enforce any standard.Hmmm...sounds a lot like the FEC to me. Maybe they need regulating :)

You have GOT to be effin' kidding me!

Y'know, I seem to recall reading something about this in something called the Bill of Rights:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.Just out of curiosity, I went looking for the Federal Election Committee website. Per their site, here's what the FEC's role is:

In 1975, Congress created the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to administer and enforce the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) - the statute that governs the financing of federal elections. The duties of the FEC, which is an independent regulatory agency, are to disclose campaign finance information, to enforce the provisions of the law such as the limits and prohibitions on contributions, and to oversee the public funding of Presidential elections. So Congress can't muzzle American Citizens, but regulatory agencies CAN? I guess the Golden Rule applies here.

I personally have no desire to express my opinions, political or otherwise, through a ball gag.

The whole thing sounds pretty FECAl to me.

Here's where you can find out more about the FEC.

Loved your comment on the whole Larry King asks John Edwards a sick punk ass question.

I kinda want to swear more in my posts on my blog, but then I think about all my nephews who read it (okay one nephew reads it) and I don't want to set a bad example.

But YOUR post was great.
